Ever wonder what it’s really like for a kid to walk to school in Dobbs Ferry? Join other grownups, community stakeholders, interested residents, and elected officials on our first Dobbs Ferry Community Walking Tour on Thursday, Sept. 30, from 8:15-9:15 a.m.
This communitywide event is sponsored by Our Streets Dobbs Ferry and the Westchester Youth Congress. We will meet at 8:15 at the bottom of the Springhurst Elementary School driveway (Johnston Court at Walgrove Avenue, at the “Where Eagles Fly” sign).
Community walking tours are designed to get people thinking, observing, and experiencing how the environment works for all users — not just drivers — and discussing how to make it better for people of all ages and abilities.
Often called “walk audits,” community walking tours have proven to be successful in changing the way we think about public space. By seeking invaluable on-the-street perspectives, we can collectively advocate for real changes to our streets.
This walking tour will center around three main walking routes children take to Springhurst Elementary School, an area of particular concern in Dobbs Ferry.
Contribute your ideas and observations with an Our Streets facilitator on this interactive walking tour. Register by visiting www.ourstreetsdobbsferry.com/walk-together or emailing OurStreetsDobbsFerry@gmail.com. Free parking is available on Walgrove Avenue and Beacon Hill Drive.
We look forward to seeing you on Sept. 30.
