The Hastings-on-Hudson Democratic Committee will host its annual caucus on Thursday, Jan. 21, starting at 7 p.m. pursuant to applicable NYS election law. The purpose of the caucus is to select our party’s candidates for village office. This year, we will be selecting one mayoral and two village trustee candidates who will appear on the Democratic ballot line in the March 16 village election. Registered Democrats residing in Hastings may attend and vote.

Hastings Democrats may attend in person or virtually via Zoom forum (unless attendance by Zoom is limited by applicable law, in which case further clarification will be provided). The in-person event will be held at the James V. Harmon Community Center, and will adhere to the applicable requirements for public gatherings under the then most current Executive Order from Governor Cuomo’s office. For those attending in person, voter registration and enrollment will be confirmed upon sign-in at the door.

Due to safety concerns related to Covid-19, we seek to allow persons to attend via Zoom if they are able. To attend virtually, please send an email to Include your name as it appears on your voter registration, your street address, and the email address you will use to access Zoom. Please send your email no later than next Friday, Jan. 15, to avoid delay in verifying valid voter registration in advance. Your Zoom links will be emailed to you on the day of the caucus.

To ensure accuracy in tabulating votes, for households where more than one resident will be voting via Zoom, each person must register individually — using his or her own personal email address — and must use his or her separate device. As in every election, it is important that every vote is counted.

In the event of a snowstorm on Jan. 21, we will hold the caucus on Monday, Jan. 25. The time and other criteria applicable to the Jan. 21 caucus will continue to apply.

We look forward to having you join us on the evening of Jan. 21. And please mark your calendar to vote in the Hastings village election on Tuesday, March 16. Thank you.

Ellen Hendrickx

Chair, Hastings Democratic Committee
