Unbelievably, during this pandemic, the Friends of the Hastings Library have figured out a way to hold our Fall Used Book Sale. It will be on Saturday, Sept. 26, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the library parking lot to allow for social distancing. Gloves will be distributed to all, and, of course, face coverings are required.

Browsers will find a wide array of novels, mysteries, biographies, cookbooks, children’s books, DVDs, and much more. Residents can donate books, DVDs, and CDs at the Hastings Library circulation desk between Sept. 8 and Sept. 22, during library hours (Monday to Thursday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.)

A quick guide on donating: Please make sure books are in good condition (no yellowing, moldy, underlined, or torn books). We find that no one wants textbooks or business, technology, medical, travel, and self-care books more than five years old, so please discard those.

This is an important event for the Friends. It raises money to help us continue to fund children’s and other programming at the library. We are grateful for your support, and we look forward to seeing you on Sept. 26.

President, Friends of the Hastings Public Library
