Susan Uram

Susan Uram

Former Hastings resident Susan W. Uram passed away suddenly, but peacefully, on Jan. 17, at age 77.

Susan was a devoted and loving mother to Alison Baran and Michael Cohenuram; mother-in-law to Jeffrey Baran and Wendy Cohenuram; and grandmother to Anna and Claire Cohenuram and Julia and Max Baran.

Susan was born on May 24, 1943 in Manhattan, where she was raised. She graduated from Syracuse University in 1965. While raising two children, she attended Pace University Law School and graduated in 1987. She then embarked on a career helping deserving families grow through adoption. She was also an advocate for children in need of supervision, working in Westchester and Putnam counties.

Susan left Hastings after more than 30 years and became part of the community at Stone Oaks in Hartsdale, where she lived at the time of her passing.

Susan was known for her warmth, sharp humor, devotion, intelligence, and sense of style. Susan was also an avid Broadway, museum, and ballet fan, a frequent attendant at crafts fairs, and longtime subscriber to the Westchester Jewish Film Festival.
