Prudence Ferraro of Dobbs Ferry passed away surrounded by her family on Oct. 28 at age 95. 

Prudy was born on Nov. 28, 1926, in Bay Shore, N.Y., to Lillian Mills and Dr. Sol Shlimbaum. She attended Bay Shore High and was awarded the Elmira Key. After three years at Elmira College, she transferred to Cornell University School of Nursing where she received her bachelor’s in nursing in 1949. She married her high school sweetheart, Frank Ferraro of Babylon, N.Y. Prudy’s career began as a public health nurse in Suffolk County, until the birth of their first child. She returned to work as a school nurse teacher at Gardiner Manor Elementary in Bay Shore. Prudy was a lifelong learner and pursued two master's degrees as a working mother.
