Mark Selemon

Longtime Hastings resident Mark Selemon, 61, passed away at his home on Thursday, March 12 — three weeks after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He is survived by his wife, Alyssa Winter, and two children, Nico and Olivia Selemon.

Mark will be missed by all whose lives he touched with his ready smile, his exuberant love of life, and for his gift of always finding wonder, humor, ridiculousness, and fun. He will be remembered as an endlessly encouraging and generous coach for Little League baseball as well as softball, rec basketball, and AYSO soccer. He will also be remembered for riding his bike always without a helmet and often without a shirt in every type of weather.

When Harvest on Hudson, Bread & Brine, The Cookery, Half Moon, and Sushi Mike’s reopen, they will surely miss his regular visits. His sincerity, honesty, generosity, and wildness gave an intimacy and intensity to his vitally energetic spirit. Those who knew him will miss his spark, his kindness, and his love of life.
