Eileen Bridget Jackson of Hastings passed away on Sunday, April 11, at age 87, after a long illness.

Eileen was the daughter of Mary and John Heneghan and was raised in the Clason Point section of the Bronx. She graduated from Cathedral High School and then the Grace Institute in New York. She worked for W.R. Grace & Co. upon graduation.

Eileen met her future husband, Frank Jackson, at a going-away party for a friend that she had not planned to attend. That meeting began a love story that lasted more than 66 years.

Besides her loving husband, she is survived by her sister, Betty Henry, and her children and their spouses — Eileen and Ed Fitzsimmons, Maureen and Tom Horn, Frank and Mary Liz Jackson, Kathleen and Jim Furlong, and Michael and Maureen Jackson. She also had 14 grandchildren — Julia, Ed, Katie, Matt, Elizabeth, Chris, Christine, Conor, Dan, Ryan, Tim, John, Stephen, and Kevin, and four great-grandchildren — Isabelle, Jackson, Grayson, and Ulrick.

Eileen will be remembered for her unconditional love of, and commitment to, her family.

Visiting was April 16 at the Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home in Dobbs Ferry, followed by a mass of the resurrection at the St. Matthew Roman Catholic Church in Hastings.

In lieu of flowers, send memorial donations to ALSAC/St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
