Ed Walsh

Edward J. Walsh Jr., a lifelong resident of Hastings, passed away on Sunday, May 9, at age 57.

Born on Feb. 7, 1964, Ed was the son of the late Edward J. and Doris (née Smith) Walsh. He graduated from the Academy of Aeronautics in 1986. He had a passion for traveling and experiencing the world, which was ingrained in him as a child and continued into adulthood, and which he passed on to his family. He also had an appreciation for older automobiles. Ed’s greatest love was his family. He was especially fond of the walks he and his wife made with their faithful canine companions. Ed was diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis in June 2016 and received a double lung transplant in March 2018. He never gave up.

Ed is survived by his wife of 23 years, Tammy, and by his sons Tyler, 19, and Patrick, 17. Ed is also survived by his brother, Gary, and his wife Danielle (née Laino) Walsh.

In lieu of flowers, send memorial donations in Edward's name to: Support for the Walsh Family GoFundMe (gofund.me/f72f1725), or to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation (www.pulmonaryfibrosis.org/ways-to-give/donate-now) or to the New Jersey Sharing Network (www.njsharingnetwork.org/contribute).

A memorial mass will be held this Saturday, May 22, at 11 a.m. at the Church of Saint Eugene, 707 Tuckahoe Road, Yonkers, NY 10710.
