The Irvington Board of Education has approved a five-year extension to the contract of Schools Superintendent Kristopher Harrison, who was hired in 2012. The board voted on the contract renewal on Feb 8. The end date is Feb. 7, 2027, unless it is extended further by mutual agreement, or terminated sooner according to provisions in the contract.
“We’re thrilled to keep you in the district for a little while longer,” school board president Brian Friedman said at the meeting. “Thank you for your efforts throughout the pandemic and in particular in all the things you did to keep school as open as it was, and the hard work you put in on a day-in, day-out basis. The number of times I’d see your car in the parking lot, way too early or way too late, is always astounding. So we all thank you for the work you’ve done. And we’re also looking forward to the many initiatives that we’ve talked about over the past couple years, some of which have been delayed by Covid, seeing those push ahead and come to fruition.”
