The 5K Race/Walk sponsored by the Agrawal Foundation on Sunday, Nov. 20, drew 187 participants and raised $8,600 for the Ardsley Education Foundation (AEF).
Vikas Agrawal is vice president of the Ardsley School Board. He and his wife, Ruchi Agarwal, both physicians, were surprised at the amount raised by the race, which began and ended at Concord Road Elementary School. Among the pack of runners/walkers were students from not only the Ardsley School District, but also from Hartsdale and Pleasantville; AHS Spanish teacher Henry Leone; Assistant Superintendent Duncan Wilson; school board member Viktoriya Paroder and chair Teresa Quackenbush; and Ardsley Mayor Nancy Kaboolian and her husband, Frank Hemerlein. To make sure runners didn’t lose their way, Leone installed directional arrows along the route.
